10 Last-Minute Dorm Must-Haves & Where to Find Them

By now, I'm sure that most college freshmen or returning students have started to settle in on campus. You've started going to football games, writing papers, and sneaking the occasional drink in the dorm while the RA isn't looking but as you look around your room, you can't help but feeling like something's missing.

Between packing all of your clothes into a suitcase or two and checking off the generic items off of the college's What to Bring list, it's possible that some of the little things can slip through the cracks.

No worries because we've done some searching on some of the notable dorm websites such as Dormify, Target, Society 6 and Urban Outfitters for some cute last minute buys to give your dorm that extra glam. (By the way, this totally isn't a sponsored post BUT if any of these websites want to reach out and do a haul post/video in the future, I won't say no!)

FYI: I will link all of the products with the direct link on where to buy it. Just click the picture and you can add it to your cart instantly.

So let's jump into it!

  • Butterfly Chair (Target) -- $34.99

Depending on how big your room is and whether or not your roommate has already brought in some furniture, this is probably one of the things that can be placed low on the list of must-haves. The chair comes in three different colors (however, navy and pink are sold out) and can fit into your color scheme while being sensible seating for guests or even yourself when you don't feel like hunching over at your desk or being too comfortable on your bed.

  • LED Selfie Clip Light (Dormify) -- $29.00

Full disclosure, you should not be taking selfies in class and this ring light would probably draw more attention to yourself when you're trying to be inconspicuous. But in your down time in between classes in your room or library, this will help you achieve Insta-famous worthy selfies without the Snapchat filters and faking the golden hour. Do with it what you will.

  • Command Strip Display Ledges (Dormify) -- $26.00

As much as we would love to have unlimited amounts of space on the desk that we are supplied on move in, we also need to understand that there's only so much we can cram on top without making it look junky overall. Enter Command Strips! Already list on the What to Bring lists with university across the country, Command also has designed these decorative ledges that can hold anything from pictures to decorative trinkets. Cute yet practical.

  • Namaste Bitches sports bottle (Dormify) -- $20.00

It is a proven fact that if you drink 1-2 liters a day, you will lose weight. Anyone who has been to college or have siblings that have graduated from college knows that the Freshman 15 is VERY REAL! Buying a cute water bottle will make you want to drink water and get excited to refill it/hit your goal for the day. There are plenty of apps that you can download on iPhones or Androids that will remind you to drink water as well. I recommend Plant Nanny because it will nag you like your mom used to when it was time for you to wake up for school. You know you need it so you may as be stylish while you hydrate.

  • Stay Wild tapestry (Society 6) -- $44.99 - $64.99

Again, not too sure how big or how small your room is, but everyone needs a cute backdrop to use when taking groups pics or pictures for when you're going out. All colleges are different but for the most part, tapestries should not be a violation of the res life guidelines as long as the tapestry does not cover more than 50% of the wall. Society 6 offers three different sizes hence the price scale so you can pick the size that fits you and your personality.

  • Hello Yellow pillow (Society 6) -- $29.99

Pops of color are always best to switch things up from the norm. This pillow is simply for decoration and not for sleeping, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Let this pillow be your invitation to a peaceful space as soon as you walk in the door of your room.

  • Get Sh(it) Done sticker (Society 6) -- $3.99

Laptop stickers are quickly rising in popularity and everyone needs that extra motivation as you attempt to crank out that 10-page research paper at 2 am. I have a special place in my heart for graphics that utilize profanity so I might buy this laptop sticker for myself.

  • Find Your Voice Journal (Urban Outfitters) -- $14.99

Everyone needs a little poetry in their life. To avoid going crazy and to practice self care, snag this book will offer piece of mind without having to lean on someone else for an ear or going to a professional. However, if you feel as though you will become a danger to yourself or someone else, seek professional help.

  • Buddha Bank (Dormify) -- $10.00

Yes, you have your meal plan and dining dollars (or whatever catchy name your college has come up with) but you still need a place to throw those loose coins from the vending machine or MTA kiosk. Enter the Buddha Bank! These cute little piggy banks come in multiple vibrant colors and can serve its purpose while bringing you zen vibes on your bad days.

  • Crushed Velvet Ottoman (Dormify) -- $50.00

This is the piece of furniture that you never knew that you needed! In the land of bed risers, those of us who are not as fortunate in the height department always need a boost up. Consider this your pink carpet to your bed and the handy storage space within can double as a liquor stash when the RA comes knocking.
